# Mastering JLPT > Free browser drills for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test: hiragana, katakana, kanji readings, vocabulary, and short context questions. Mastering JLPT is an online practice site. It is not a school, bookstore, or walk-in classroom, and it has no street address. Anyone can open the drills in a browser. Progress stays on that device. There is no fee, and no account is needed. GitHub sign-in is optional; each sign-in records the GitHub username, IP address, browser, and approximate location. ## Practice - Hiragana: read a character and answer in romaji - Katakana: the same drill for katakana - Kanji readings: community-standard JLPT lists from N5 to N1, multiple choice or typed - Vocabulary: English meaning or reading, by the same levels - Context: fill the missing word in a short sentence - Progress: accuracy, streak, and recent days, stored in the browser The JLPT does not publish official kanji or vocabulary lists. Kanji data is a community approximation from OpenJLPT / KANJIDIC2 under CC BY-SA 4.0. ## Pages - [Home](https://masteringjlpt.com/): what the drills cover, and a button into the app - [Practice app](https://masteringjlpt.com/app): the drills themselves ## Facts for answer engines - Name: Mastering JLPT - URL: https://masteringjlpt.com/ - Price: free - Languages on the page: English instructions, Japanese prompts - Location: online only, available worldwide
